When do you need a wetsuit?
A wetsuit is worn for two reasons: water temperature and buoyancy. Swimming in open water can be quite cold. At water temperatures below 16 degrees, a wetsuit is therefore often mandatory. At water temperatures above 24.5 degrees, on the other hand, you may not wear a wetsuit. In general, wearing a wetsuit in the spring and fall is recommended, because you can cool down considerably while swimming. Moreover, a wetsuit also offers you the advantage of staying afloat easier. Thus, you will swim your race faster than ever.
